A surprise find... (Day 5)

On Day 5, when i talked to Brian as he was heading home from checking on the progress at the house, he told me he had a surprise for me....

When he got to the house - he noticed a wall with this wall paper on it and he managed to get it off so we could salvage it. Brian knows how much I like Toile - and this was pretty cool to have. It is not a ton, but a decent amount that i can do something with... Now I just have to think of something creative to do with it. Perhaps the back of a built-in... or a piece of art.... Suggestions? It is not in the "best" condition, as it had holes from where the Sheet Rock had been nailed into it, but all things considered it is in pretty good shape. Behind the Toile, is likely what was the original wallpaper... its green with flowers on it... and belongs in another time besides the present.

Here is the wall at the house with the wall paper still up that he was able to salvage:

The ceilings in the back of the house are now completely exposed:

There was once a wall that closed off the stairs - it is now much more open -- this picture is looking downstairs to the kitchen:

In the dining room there was a built-in - which has now been removed... this picture is looking from the old house to the new house and the kitchen area:

And another picture of the kitchen - which now has everything (including floors) removed:

Many more demo pictures coming up!

  1. What an exciting project and journey!
You are so creative, I know you will find a great new home for the wallpaper. I love when people wallpaper the back of built-ins, pantries, mudroom spaces, furniture, etc. I've seen people wrap furniture & containers too. Or maybe a spin on the dress artwork you made for Emma's room?
Love watching the remodel. Keep the pictures coming.
