On Saturday when we got to the house, there were American Flags lining our "new" street for the upcoming Houston marathon! Our house is on the marathon route and I loved seeing one in front of our house. I cannot wait to cheer on runners from our front yard next year! Not sure I have it in me to run another marathon, but if I do - it sure would be cool to run past my own house....
Here are pics from the past few days of demolition at the house, let's see if I can figure out what everything is in these pics:
While as I mentioned earlier, we were afraid we would not be able to salvage the ship lap they were taking down from the walls because it was so brittle, in fact they were able to salvage the ship lap from the ceilings downstairs... now we just have to figure out where we will use it:
The whole house had basically been deconstructed, witht he exception of the green room (in the above picture) and the original 1939 bathroom -which were both basically in tact -- now the ship lap is down from the green room and it looks like this:
And now the downstairs bathroom is gone too... Time for a port a potty!!!
Once the ceilings became exposed you could see the gap between the 1939 and 1980 house:
Rafters and the roof.... attic space:
Another cool thing that was exposed once the walls came down was the knob and tube wiring that was in the 1939 house:
Looking up at the opening from the old staircase:
Completely exposed downstairs:
The playroom/mudroom and laundry room are now one big open area:
And a few other pictures of the demolition...
Another picture of our master bedroom and the ship lap:
Yesterday, they started pulling the siding down from the wall by the balcony:
I think I am finally caught up on all the demo pics.... well not "all" because if you know Brian and me - we both take a lot of pics.... but you get the idea! Much of the stuff has been donated, dumpsters emptied (and filled again) and we are getting close to ready for the next phase... framing of new walls!
Hopefully there are still a few readers out there who are interested in the project! :)
