How did we get here...

Right after Emma was born, I decided I was ready to move to a new house... one in a neighborhood a little more family friendly with a bit more "functional" space. Don't get me wrong - I love our home and my short commute to work is more than ideal.... but our home became cluttered not only with all our stuff, but with A LOT of baby stuff and I was ready to move.

It was my second week back at work full time after maternity leave and before heading home, I realized I had been so busy all day, that I had failed to do my daily check of new listings on har.com... and so I decided before shutting my computer down, I would do a quick search--and there it was a NEW listing that caught my eye.

This was the photo in the listing:

Immediately I called the listing agent (after all, I was convinced from the 3 pics online of the exterior of the home -- this was my dream house) and scheduled a time for Brian and I to see the home...

This was what saw:

Somehow in the next 72 hours - I convinced Brian that this 1939 house with a 1980 addition was OUR house... wouldn't you be convinced by seeing what we saw... and we needed to make an offer on it right away... AND that we wanted to take on a MAJOR renovation in the coming months. [Mind you that these pics are actually the best of the best!]

6 weeks later - we were closing on the home and so began our roller coaster ride of making this Old House our New Home!

Now fast forward a year full of ups and downs.... and almost 1 year after closing, I can honestly say our vision is starting to take shape. We finally have started the renovation process and hopefully because it took us so long to get here, the rest of the process will go a bit more smoothly!

So the plan is to keep this blog to chronicle our renovation (and our life too) and hopefully I will be a little more successful in keeping this one up vs. my original blog!

  1. Hi Robyn,

Susan Covington here--I grew up in this house, and although it was definitely heartbreaking when my mom decided to sell, I'm so glad we were able to sell it to a young family. Your daughter will have a blast growing up here; it is an incredibly fun house for a kid.
