A Few Good Pics

While things don't look that different - because they have just been putting on the many coats of varnish at the house, when Brian went to the house yesterday to let everyone in, he got some cool pics of the house:

From the mud room:

So that's where we are... Getting closer - but still a decent amount to do. Here is to hoping it is a really busy week!!

A little bit of this... A little bit of that!

We are getting closer to finishing this project each day. We have to be out of our house in just over a week, so we are really praying everyone not only does a good job, but also finishes quickly. Yesterday was shoe molding and floors, plus the final piece of marble in my shower. Today will be the final coat of varnish and then it has to "cure" for a few days. Also our washer and dryer are being delivered at some point during the day. Then next week - Finishing painting, hardware, mirrors/glass, cabinet adjustments and finish, appliances, punch list, final inspections and hopefully --- MOVING!!!!! Not sure all of that will actually happen, but I hope that those which are necessary do - because otherwise -- the Goldstein family is homeless.  Eek!

Here are the pics I got from yesterday - close up details.

Shoe molding outside of Bri's office:

Den/Playroom:

And some of the door knobs are on upstairs... Did mostly crystal to match original, but some are chrome:

Keep your fingers crossed, people show up and get this job done! Promise to keep you posted!!!!

Stain Away!!!

Not that many pics... But they have been busy staining the floors today.  By end of day - the floors will have the first coat of sealer/varnish - so they can dry tomorrow. Another step in the right direction! Still gonna be very close to actually being done by time we have to be out of our house... But they are putting in a good effort to get it done. Staining has been another step that again transforms the space. Not many pics because when I went couldn't actually go in and Brian took a few when there this a.m., here they are...

Entry way with stain... Door still not stained:

Brian's office:

Dining room:

Looking in through door at kitchen:

They were working on the varnish on stairs when I was there:

Not sure you can tell a difference, but they pulled the "sticker" off the front downstairs window - starting to look more complete...cannot wait for door to be painted and the wooden posts stained.

Hopefully tomorrow while the floor dry, the painters will be back to finish upstairs -- will have to get in through balcony.  Whatever it takes to get the house done!

A Little Closer Each Day....

It is a long and slow finish to complete a renovation, and each day we get slightly closer... But yet still so much to finish. Pleased with the progress that continues to be made each day. A huge compliment that we got yesterday on the house came from the electrician - he told Bri that the house looked like it could be in a magazine, which made me feel great!  There have been so many small details that I have really tried to make perfect and seeing it all come together is amazing. Cannot wait to call this place home!

I ran over to the house early in the day to drop something off, and was pleased to see all the buzz... Sanding the hardwoods, tile guy putting up tile in the kitchen, painters working away and carpet being laid! Here are some pics from my visits today:

Kitchen tile and grout complete:

Front door sanded down to be stained:

Shutters outside painted (now just front door to be painted:

Carpet upstairs:

Here's some of the rooms completed - E's room:

And tonight:

Guest bedroom:

Our closet with rods and carpet being laid:

Master bedroom:

Hallway:

Stair lights on at night:

Looking forward to when shoes at the bottom of stairs means we are in the house:

Hopefully, tomorrow more sanding and whatever needs to be done to get the staining started.... And hardware on doors upstairs. Very happy with how everything is coming together.

Details...

Slowly all the details at the house are getting taken care of. Second coats of paint were done yesterday and now the cabinets will be sanded and the last coat will be put on. The electrician was back at the house today and finished up lighting, cabinets were worked on, plumbing is being finished... And our contractor is busy cleaning everything up.

Here are some pics from today...

Ship lap painted and electricity at front of house:

Both lights in the breakfast room are now installed:

In our bedroom we dropped the fan down a bit:

And we finally have a trash can drawer:

Additionally, all the paper has been pulled up because they are getting ready to start on the hard woods:

Now you can also see the brick and tile throughout... Here is the mud room:

Laundry room:

E's bathroom:

And the master bathroom:

Hopefully, the painters will keep touching things up, electrician will finish and the hard woods will get stained - sooner, rather than later.  HVAC is on and the house feels much better!!  They are supposed to start on hard woods today or tomorrow... Which means we have to stay out.  Slowly, we are getting there - thank goodness because we have to be in soon!!!!!

Light It Up!!!

Well -- we finally have progress at the house and our vision is starting to become reality. Overall, I am so pleased with how everything has come out... Now here are the pics:

Our kitchen all lit up tonight... Plumbing and lighting both in today. Funny story about our faucet - we went to a renovation seminar while we were trying to get started on the project at Westheimer Plumbing and Brian won the main door prize... The faucet! Not necessarily what I would have picked, but I have to say it looks great!

View from the stairs looking to kitchen:

Powder room downstairs - In this bathroom the sink will actually be the 1939 sink that we salvaged from the original bathroom:

E finally has a place to go "potty":

Laundry room with granite:

Entry way light... This was a last minute find and it matches the house so well:

Dining room chandelier:

Guest bathroom:

And the toilet is in:

E's bathroom:

E's room with fan in:

Master shower with fixtures in:

Bathtub in the master:

Reading lights in master:

Exterior lights in courtyard:

As you can see - there was a lot done today... Hopefully this pace will keep up and we will actually be in before 2014!!!
